Prigozhin Is In St Petersburg, Russia-Lukashenko
*Says Russia authorities have returned his confiscated cash and arms.
President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, said on Thursday that head of the Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, who staged a mutiny against Russia, is in St Petersburg, Russia, not Belarus as earlier proposed.
Even as Kremlin has kept a sealed lip on Prigozhin's whereabouts, Associated Press, AP, reports that a section of the Russian media claimed they cited him in his office in St Petersburg.
Lukashenko who said last week that Prigozhin was in Belarus, explained while speaking to international media Thursday, that the Wagner leader is inside Russia.
Without giving further details about what changed since the attempted mutiny, the Belarusian President revealed that the Wagner chief is not barred from traveling to Moscow.
He also disclosed that Russian authorities have returned the cash and weapons they initially confiticated from the mercenary group leader.
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, refused to confirm Lukashenko's disclosure, insisting that Russian authorities are not aware of his whereabouts. He affirmed however, that moving over to Belarus is part of the deal that ended the mutiny.
