XiJinping Set to Visit Putin

Chinese President, Xi Jinping, may soon be on his way for an official visit, his first, to Moscow.

Reuters reports that Xi, who just won his fifth term in office, may also use the period of the visit to have a virtual meeting Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, as part of moves by Beijing to up its diplomatic move into the war between Russia and Ukraine. 

Though the Chinese Foreign ministry could not immediately confirm details of the expected trip, Reuters sources explain that the visit could take place next week, earlier than expected, in response to a long term invitation from President Vladimir Putin. 

Both Kremlin and Kyiv are yet to speak on the planned trip. However, Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, explained that details of the visit are yet to be released as both sides are expected to coordinate such information being it goes public. 

"As a rule, announcements of official foreign visits are coordinated synchronously by mutual agreement of the parties. 

"When there is such readiness, we will let you know," Peskov told newsmen. 

Diplomats say Xi's visit to Putin is likely to be a high score for Putin who is still struggling to portray Kremlin's war in Ukraine as one with the combined might of the West.
