Police Handcuffs Seun Kuti After Surrendering Himself Over Assault On Police Officer

The Lagos State Police Command, on Monday, handcuffed Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, over alleged assault and slapping of a police officer at the weekend in Lagos.
Kuti, accompanied by a lawyer from Femi Falana Chambers and a family representative submitted himself to the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement confirmed the detantion of the suspect
Hundeyin said that Kuti was detained in accordance with the law and adding that an ongoing investigation into the incident would be carried out transparently and professionally.
Hundeyin, however, assured the general public that justice would be served.
Recall that the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, on Sunday, ordered the Lagos State Police Command to quickly effect the arrest of the suspect, after a video went viral showing Kuti assaulting a police officer in uniform.
