The traditional ruler of Aghara, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Chief David Obadofin, has died. He died in the custody of his abductors, after 12 days of tourture by his captors
Reports say a family member on condition of anonymity revealed the ugly development stating that the monarch died last Thursday as a result of torture from his abductors.
It was gathered that the bandits who kidnapped the traditional ruler had agreed to collect the sum of N2m ransom the release of the monarch and one other lady, identified as Temidayo Elewa.
The bandits agreed to reduce the ransom fee when they noticed that the king, Pa Obadofin was becoming too weak.
The source said the criminals blindfolded Elewa and took her to a separate camp in the jungle, while waiting  for the ransom to be delivered in an effort to hide their tracks.
Daily trust reports that Pa. Obadofin passed away before the ransom could be given to the bandits in the forest.
According to reports, Elewa, was kidnapped alongside the king, but was allegedly released and reunited with her family on Saturday, natives said.
It was gathered that Sawing machine operators, working in the bush saw her groping in the forest assisted her home.
According to the reports, the bandits released the lady after spotting the search party of hunters, vigilantes, and some Fulani volunteers, approaching their location and took to their heels.
It was reported that Elewa’s family members took her up early on Saturday morning along Obajana community and took her to an unidentified hospital for medical examination.
Recall that on Easter Monday, at around 11 p.m, unidentified gunmen kidnapped the late monarch, a prominent cashew farmer, and Elewa from his farm residence in Aghara in the Kabba-Bunu LGA and demanded N60m ransom.
While fleeing with their victims, a widow working as a labourer on the property, one Toyin Onare, lost her life.
