Kidnap of Anambra Catholic Rev Father is Not True-Anambra Police
It's sensationalism.
The Anambra state Police Command has said media report about the kidnap of a Catholic Rev Father along the Afor Junction, Nnobi, is not true.
The Command made the disclosure via a statement made available to FreshNews by its spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu.
"The attention of Anambra State Police Command has been drawn to a news report saying a Catholic priest/clergyman was kidnapped in Anambra State along Afor junction, Nnobi road.
"It is not true but a pure example of a sensational report," the statement read in part.
The statement pointed out that owner of the said Lexus vehicle has since appeared at the command headquarters to recover his car which has since been released to him.
"To set the record straight, the command operatives got information about an abandoned white Lexus jeep with Reg. nos. GDD 882 PW by 8:30 pm, along Afor market junction, Nnobi road. The officers got to the scene and recovered the vehicle as they approached the police base, the owner of the vehicle came to the police station with proof of ownership, was identified and the vehicle was released to him. The victim claimed to have been abducted by yet unidentified men and was dispossessed of his personal belongings before his release.
The Command promised to release further details as they unfold.
