It's No Longer Business as Usual-FCT Police Commissioner Warns kidnappers, others

The commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, CP Benerth Ibeh, has warned kidnappers and other criminal elements in around the territory that the area is no longer safe for them. 

CP Ibeh gave the warning on Monday while speaking with newsmen on the progress recorded by the command in ridding the FCT of criminal elements in line with his pledge to rid the FCT of all criminal elements upon assumption of office. 

“It is no longer business as usual. And it cannot be. We are out for them, we have the capacity to stop all of them,” he stressed. 

CP Ibeh disclosed that within the last few days, the command arrested 311 suspected criminals, comprising 297 males 14 females.

According to him, the suspects were picked up around the Zuba axis where intelligence reports revealed that local and interstate kidnappers, particularly those from both Niger and Kaduna, come to coll off afte their nefarious operations. 

“I told you that our pledge is to make sure that the FCT is cleansed and have peaceful environment. Our pledge has taken us to areas in Zuba where the kidnappers used to come from both Niger, Kaduna, Tafa, after kidnapping. They will come to Zuba to rest and enjoy.

“We went there for a raid and you will be surprise they are 297 men and 14 women who are involved in these nefarious activities,” he disclosed.

While emphasizing that the suspects will be taken to the court to face the law, CP Ibeh assured that the command is ready, willing to and capable of cleaning criminals out of the FCT. However, he urged all residents to assist the command by availing it with useful information.  

“We are going to ensure you (criminals)are cleansed from here. We are taking all of them to court so that they will face the law. We operate the best practices no matter how.

“...We are ready, we are willing, we are capable. We didn’t sleep to ensure we got all of them. The operation is continuous and we will continue until FCT is clean.

“If you have any information to give to us, please do so. It is on information we went to raid these ones. Look at what we have made. We are going to help to clean the FCT so that people will sleep with their eyes closed. That is our mission. That is all we want to achieve. 

“My officers and all of us, we are not resting. By the grace of God, peace will come to FCT whether the criminals like it or not,” he assured.
