Operatives of the FCT police command have, within the last 48, hours arrested notorious kidnap kingpins, Usman Muazu, Aliyu Muhammed and 5 other members of the kidnap gang terrorizing parts of the city. The command also paraded Auwal Lahiru, Rabiu Sani, Madina Abubakar, Jonah Elimelechi and Saminu Idris as members of the kidnap syndicate.

The disclosure was made Wednesday at the command headquarters by the Commissioner, CP Benerth Igweh, while playing host the command to the Minister, His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Wike.

Igweh, who vowed that the command will make life miserable for any criminal in the FCT, also told the visiting minister that operatives of the command are on the trail of other members of the gang and would have them in custody in the next few days.

According to him, the kidnap kingpins were picked up in Pyankasa, Tundun Wada and Ketti villages, all in the FCT, adding that they were arrested in connection with the kidnap of 14 persons, including the 5 victims abducted at the Federal Mortgage Housing Estate, Kabusa.

In particular, Igweh disclosed that the arrested kidnappers also confessed to the murder of the district head and the abduction of some staff of Defence Estate, within the same Kabusa estate.

“They were arrested in Pyankasa, Tudun Wada and Ketti village, FCT, in connection to the kidnap of 14 notable persons in the Federal Capital Territory. These kidnappers who have been giving FCT a sleepless night and on the wanted list of the Command for a long time, have now been arrested.

“They are responsible for the kidnapping of 5 victims in Federal Mortgage Housing Estate, Kabusa, 3 persons at Ketti village, Fulani residents of Alhaji Sani, A woman and her gate man in Kabusa Estate, one Mr Sunday Zakwai and four others.

“They equally Killed the district head,” he told the minister

CP Igweh also told the visiting minister that the command has, within the same period, taken into custody eight notorious Armed robbery suspects, better known as “One-Chance” who have also been terrorizing innocent FCT commuters.

They are Auwal Yusuf, an ex-convict, Ismail Hudu, Sylvester Poto and Abdusalam Mamuda, Sunday Udoma, aka, Akido. Others are Ifeoma Ngoze Obodo, Muhammed Telegbe, aka, Chocolate, and his wife, Sarah Mohammed Telegbe. According to him, the eight were picked up on Sunday, February 11, by operatives of the command from the Mabushi division following credible intelligence.

The suspects, said to be responsible for a number of One-Chance robberies across certain parts of the FCT, were trailed to the Central Area of the city where they were arrested while attempting to dispossess some innocent residents of their belongings.

“Acting on credible intelligence, the suspects who are responsible for several one chance activities in the past were trailed to Central Area in an attempt to rob some innocent resident and were promptly arrested. The suspects confessed to using toy guns and knives to scare their victims to illegally obtain from them. Suspects will be charged to court soon,” he explained.

Meanwhile, a visibly elated FCT minister, applauded the commissioner and members of the FCT command, noting that a lot has changed in the fight against criminal elements in the city since he assumed office, noting that “…the difference is clear,” to the adulation of both the commissioners, men and officers of the command.

While commending the team for a job well done, the minister promised to aid the operational efficiency of the command with more vehicles and telecommunications gadgets.

"Let me assure you and your men that we will do all that is humanly possible to provide you all that is required to fight crime and criminality in FCT. In the next few days, you will have more vehicles, more communication gadgets, to help you and your men to face these criminals,"he assured.

On the fleeing two remaining kidnap suspects which the Commissioner promised to have in custody within a few days, Wike promised to give the command the sum of N20m to help flush the criminals out wherever they may be hiding.

"...You said the remaining two are at large. OK. Let me put money on their heads. Wherever they are, send your men out there. I will give them N20m. Go and fish them out wherever they are. I put that money on their heads. I want to see them alive or dead."
