As Command Rescues 22 Kidnap Victims In Three Days Assumption Of Duty 
The newly posted Commissioner of police, FCT, CP Haruna G. Garba has vowed to flush out criminals in and with the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, adding that the Command under his watch within three days of his resumption of duty rescued 22 kidnapped victims.

The CP disclosed this in press conference with news men at the FCT Police Command Headquarters, Garki, Abuja, on Friday.
He replaced Dr Idris Abubakar Sadiq who was recently redeployed to the Police Academy, Kano State following his promotion.
The 30th Commissioner of Police in the Territory, said the FCT under his watch would have zero tolerance for crime adding that the police cannot do it alone but with the corporation of all the stakeholders and residents of the FCT.
"WE cannot do it alone. It requires critical information from the FCT residents." He said.
According to him, working together with the residents would make the work easy to defeat crime adding that through visibility policing, community policing, and professionalism, all would be achieved.
He said the door is open for all the residents and stakeholders with credible 
intelligence.

Speaking further, he added that his administration would not tolerate human rights abuse by policemen, stressing that human rights would be given proper attention.
He said he planned to adopt transparency strategy to deal with the criminality in Abuja.
He advised those giving information to the police to be diligent, discreet, circumspect and not to blow their trumpets after giving out information to police.
According to him, he would deployed proactive approach to security challenges in the Territory.
He disclosed that the anti-kidnapping unit of the FCT Command rescued at least 22 people abducted and taken across the borders of the Federal Capital Territory into neighbouring states by bandits.
Garba explained that a village chief who was part of those abducted on April 7 in Chida village, Kwali Area Council, Abuja, but was also rescued during the operation conducted on May 3rd.

"The anti-kidnapping outfit of the command, in a clearance-and-rescue operation in and around Kogi and Nasarawa states and FCT borders, successfully rescued 14 persons, including the village chief of the community, who were abducted by armed bandits at Chida village in Kwali Area Council on April 7, 2023.
“Ten victims with mild symptoms of illness were taken to the General Hospital in Abaji, treated, and discharged. They have since been reunited with their families.
“Similarly, in the same rescue operations, eight persons, namely, Buba Galadima, Sarki Galadima, Audu Galadima, Musa Buba, Mohammed Isa, Hassan Audu, Aminu Ahmadu, and Abubakar Mallam, who were kidnapped from Lapai and Tunga Mallam villages in Niger State on April 13, 2023, were rescued unhurt and handed over to the Ardo Galadima of Lapai LGA, Niger State, for urgent medical attention.

“Consequent on the above, I wish to assure the members of the public that the onslaught against armed bandits will be sustained, and at no distant time the fleeing suspects will be arrested.” He said.
