Eboigbe Salutes Sen Akpabio, Hon Abbas On Their Emergence As Senate President And Reps Speaker
*Praises law makers for conducting seamless elections.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Edo state, Victor Eboigbe, has congratulated Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio and Hon Tajudeen Abbas on their victories as President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively.
Eboigbe delivered the congratulatory message in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday following the emergence of the duo as new heads of the 10th National Assembly.
He noted that the rancour-free emergence of both Sen Akpabio and Hon Abbas amidst spirited opposition, is an indication that the country's democracy has come of age.
According to the party leader, the development is also an indication that the present crop of law makers are conscious of the overriding need for national unity and cohesion hence the maturity they exhibited in delivering their votes seamlessly.
Eboigbe pointed out that with his wealth of experience, Sen Akpabio will ensure that the 10th National Assembly will leave up to the expectations of Nigerians across all divides.
Sen Akpabio polled 63 votes to defeat Sen Abdulaziz Yari who garnered 46 votes, while Hon Tajudeen Abbas polled 353 to defeat his two rivals who polled 3 votes each.
