The Department of State Services, DSS, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has reached a thrust over the disputed office building allegedly belonging to the Service but was said to be occupied by the anti-graft agency.
The Service while updating the public in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Dr. Peters Afunanya, said the leadership of EFCC had reached out to the Service, for a final resolution of issues surrounding the property under reference.

He said for the avoidance of doubt, it was important to note that the Commission does not use the 15 Awolowo Road DSS-Owned property as holding facility for its suspects.
According to him, the Service never hindered the Commission’s access to its suspects anywhere.

He added that while the Service had accepted the Commission’s entreaties and certain concessions, sections of the media are advised to apply restraint in  their reportage of the matter in order to avoid instigating any rancours between the two agencies.

The statement reads in full.
"Update On Alleged Barricade Of EFCC Lagos Office By The DSS
"It may be recalled that the media had earlier today (30/05/2023) reported a barricade of EFCC Lagos Office by the Department of State Services (DSS). The Service hereby informs the public that the leadership of EFCC has reached out to it (the Service) for a final resolution of issues surrounding the property under reference.

"For the avoidance of doubt, it is important to note that the Commission does not use the 15 Awolowo Road DSS-Owned property as holding facility for its suspects. As such, the Service never hindered the Commission’s access to its suspects anywhere.

"While the Service has accepted the Commission’s entreaties and certain concessions, sections of the media are advised to apply restraint in  their reportage of the matter in order to avoid instigating any rancours between the two agencies."

Recall that early Tuesday, reports emanated from the EFCC staff said the DSS officials invaded their Ikoyi Lagos office on Monday, stopped the operatives from carrying out their duties.
But in a reaction, the DSS said it was only occupying its own facility where it is carrying out its official and statutory responsibility.
Public Relations Officer, Department of State Security Service, Dr. Peter Afunanya, in a statement denied the alleged invasion of the EFCC office by the DSS, stating that the report was not correct.
Afunanya dismissed the reports of any fight and said it's a falsehood.
According to him, there was no rivalry between the Service and the EFCC over and about anything.
He asked the media not to create any imaginary one stressing that they are great partners working for the good of the nation.
Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the Department of State Security Services (DSS), to vacate the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Tunde Rahman, the President's spokesperson, said the President ordered the DSS to quit the premises immidiately.
“The President said if there were issues between the two important agencies of government, they would be resolved amicably,” the short statement reads.
