Developing Story: Kusherki, Niger Community Under Terrorists Siege
Four vigilante members, other community members, killed.
Kusherki, a farming community in Rafi council area of Niger state, is currently being attacked by terrorists.
FreshNews gathered exclusively that the attack, which began at about 2pm Wednesday, is ongoing at the time of filing this report.
The terrorists, our reporter learnt, came into the community and went straight to the local market, which was in session, shooting sporadically to scare away the community vigilante group who attempted to ward off the attack.
FreshNews also gathered that the attackers have so far, killed four members of the vigilante group, including its leader, identified as Habila Abaki, while still moving around the community, abducting as many people as they can.
Community sources also disclosed that some of the attackers pursued escaping villagers to Birnin Gwari, a few kilometres from Kagara.
Birnin Gwari is a border town in Kaduna state, close to Kagara, Niger state.
About three years ago, terrorists also invaded the same Kusherki community and killed the village head in his house.
At the time of the attack that took the life of the village head, there was an army checkpoint close to the community. However, the post has been abandoned due to incessant attacks by terrorists.
