Anambra Police Bursts Robbery Gang
*Arrests three, recovers guns, ammunitions, tricycle.
Anambra police command has intercepted a robbery gang terrorizing residents around Agu-Awka and Neni, Anaocha council area of the state.
The development is contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday by the Command's spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu.
The Interception, according to the statement, occured when operatives from Neni, acting on credible information, laid ambush for the gang who were said to be on their way towards Neni from Agu-Awka where they snatched a tricycle from its owner at gun point Saturday night.
The police team, assisted by local vigilantes, apprehended the three-man gang and recovere the stolen tricycle, one Beretta pistol and a locally made Chief revolver pistol.
Other recovered items are twelve rounds of live ammunition and an expended ammunition.
The arrested suspects include Ebuka Madu ‘M’, a 22 year-old indigene of Umunze; Chinedu Godwin ‘M’, 23, from Enugu State and Udegbunam Chikezie ‘M’, 18, from Neni.
While parading the suspects, state police commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye, assured indigenes and residents of the state that the command is set to rid the state of criminal elements as part of its determination to protect the confidence reposed on it by the people.
