The Nigerian Army (NA), on Wednesday, expressed it's readiness and determination to collaborate with the Nigeria Customs Service (NSC), to end the incessant smuggling of illegal arms in the country, to curb the ugly trend in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Army (NA), on Wednesday, expressed it's readiness and determination to collaborate with the Nigeria Customs Service (NSC), to end the incessant smuggling of illegal arms in the country, to curb the ugly trend in Nigeria.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division NA), Major General  Muhammed Usman, gave the assurances, when the Acting Controller, Federal Operations Zone 'A',  Deputy Comptroller Hussain Ejibunu, paid a courtesy visit to Headquarters 81 Division NA.
General Usman called for synergy and cooperation among security agencies to make the country safe and secured.

He, therefore, charged the officers and men of the NA and NCS in his AOR to guard against illegal arms smuggling into the country through the various borders.

The Acting Controller (AC), Federal Operations Zone 'A', Deputy Comptroller Hussain Ejibunu, on his part, stated that the aim of the visit was to familiarize with the GOC and seek the Division's further support  in his drive to ensure a lasting end to illegal arms smuggling and importation through the Nigerian borders in the South west.

The Custom boss disclosed that the Zone has benefited immensely from the support of the NA in the area of training and exchange of information, as he called for more group interaction and joint training to further enhance inter-agency cooperation in the country.
He commended the troops of the NA deployed in his Area of Responsibility (AOR) for their cooperation and  support to his command, especially their usual timely response to any distress call from the command during clashes with smugglers. He affirmed that such timely intervention has helped reduced casualty during such engagements.

Comptroller Ejibunu  was confident that such level of support would drastically reduce the level of illegal activities in his command's AOR saying it would also checkmate the  activities of immigrants to curb any act of terrorism.
