Gombe Teacher Arrested for Defiling Under-aged Sisters

A 38 year-old primary school teacher, Abubakar Muhammad, has been arrested in Gombe state for allegedly defilling 4 pupils under his care.

Gombe state police command made the disclosure in a statement released in the state capital by its spokesperson, ASP Mahid Abubakar. 

According to the statement, the pupils who are sisters of the same father, aged 8, 9, 12 and 14 respectively, were sexually assaulted by the suspect who was subsequently arrested following complaints filed by their father, Adamu Ali. 

Ali alleged that the suspect, who resides in the Malam-inna quarters of Gombe, the state capital, committed the offence at the Islamiyya school, located in the same community, between January and March.

The statement explained that the victims have been taken for medical examination and treatment, adding that the suspect, who has already confessed to the crime, will soon be charged to court for prosecution soon. 

“The suspect who resides in Malam-inna quarters, Gombe committed the offence at the Islamiyya school located in the same community.

”The victims were taken to the hospital for medical examination,” the command disclosed in its statement.

ASP Abubakar also disclosed that the command is investigating another assault and defilement case of three sisters, aged 12, 15 and 17, by three suspects.

The alleged crime, involving Sani Adamu, 50; Adamu Muhammed, 40 and Bakura Muhammed, was reported by the father of the girls, Aliyu Adamu, a resident of Malam inna quarters and Alhaji Abba, an attachee of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, Gombe state chapter.

According to Abubakar, the suspects have already confessed to the crime and will be in court as soon as investigations are completed.

Meanwhile, the command has called on parents and guardians to keep a keener and closer watch over their children and wards, particularly the girl child.

It advised them to monitor their activities both in schools and when they are on errand or playing with their peers in order to reduce the chances of any assault on them.
