Edo Commissioner Chris Okaeben and the filmmakers who visited him
Edo Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Chris Okaeben, has vowed to ensure that film production returns to Edo State, aligning with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s “SHINE” agenda.
Speaking at a gathering of practitioners in the film, art and fashion who came to pay the Commissioner a visit at the Ministry, Okaeben emphasized the Ministry’s role in showcasing Edo State’s culture globally, saying, “Culture begins and ends in Edo State.”
Okaeben announced that henceforth, the Ministry shall honour past Commissioners and notable artistes, on a monthly basis.
“Every month, the Ministry shall honour its past Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries and Creatives, some posthumously for their outstanding contributions to Edo cultural heritage,” he declared.
The Commissioner tasked staff to ensure Governor Okpebholo’s success and urged movie practitioners to promote Edo’s art and culture worldwide, praising late Captain Hosa Okunbo’s contributions to the movie industry.
Chairman of the Congress of Edo Movie Practitioners, Veteran Producer, Chief Peddie Okao, expressed the group’s interest in partnering with the Ministry to further develop Edo’s film industry with a view to making film businesses grow in the State.
Speaking also, Nollywood Actor & Director, D’Guv’r Lancelot Imasuen congratulated Hon. Chris Okaeben on his appointment and pledged the practitioners support for the Ministry’s success.
A book, ” A TRIP IN MOTION ,” written by Lagos based poet Godson Osarenren, a tribute in honour of Lancelot Imasuen’s 30 years in the movie industry was presented to the Commissioner.
Permanent Secretary, Iryn Omorogiuwa Esq. and Directors of the Ministry were present at the meeting.
